Elizabeth Lee Vickers

Elizabeth Lee Vickers, 79, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on March 4, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospitial in Beaumont, Texas. 

 

Cremation arrangements are under the auspices of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas.

 

 Elizabeth was born on July 23, 1944, in Goosecreek, Texas know known as Baytown. She became a Christian early in life and graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas. Elizabeth showed a deep love for Jesus and followed him all through her life. She attended Houston Baptist College as a music major, then relocated to Austin, where she earned an Associates Degree in General Studies from Austin Community College. Elizabeth was a gifted performer singing and played the piano when she was young. She often preformed at Zachary Scott Theater in Austin. During this time she worked 25 years as a secretary for various state agencies. While in Houston, she met Robert Joe Vickers, and later married him in Auston. They had two daughters, Bonnie Jo and Melinda Sue Cornish. She has two grandsons, Zachary David Cross, and Colton Michael Cornish. Elizabeth passed with in months after the love of her life Joe. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, love, and zest for life will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Elizabeths words on a daily basis were, “God is in Control, and His timing is perfect!”


She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Vickers; her parents, J.D. and Bonnie Ray; her sisters, JoAnn Francis Hill and husband Roger, and Nancy Eek; and her brother, Danny Ray

 

She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Jo and Melinda Sue Cornish; her sister; Dorothy Kathleen Egge, Corpus Chrisi, Texas; and her grandsons, Zachary David Cross, and Colton Michael Cornish.
