Our history & commitment
For over 50 years, Haven of Rest Crematory has served the families of Southeast Texas with integrity and compassion. Originally constructed on the grounds of Haven of Rest Cemetery in Beaumont by Charles Kelley, as a part of Kelley-Hixon Funeral Home, it was the first crematory between Baton Rouge and Houston.
In 2001, the funeral home, cemetery and crematory were purchased by Claybar Funeral Home and became part of what would become the largest family-owned network of funeral homes and cemeteries in Southeast Texas.
In 2010, a new crematory was constructed on the beautiful grounds of Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange County. In 2022, the new Haven of Rest Cremation Center began serving an ever-expanding area—with dedicated staff and our Cremation Code of Ethics to guide us.
The new Haven of Rest Crematory features administrative offices, two crematory retorts, a large refrigerated sheltering room, a comfortable family gathering room, a computer control room, advanced internet connectivity, and QR code technology for the highest level of security.
