Wayne Jefferson “Paw Paw” Watson, 82, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on May 25, 2025, in Beaumont.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Claybar Kelley -Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Visitation will be prior from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Born in Meridian, Mississippi, on August 11, 1942, he was the son of Lloyd J. Watson and Julia Lanell Thomas Watson. Wayne dedicated a significant portion of his career to Pasadena Tank Corp., where he served as a construction manager. In addition to his successful career, Wayne proudly served his country as a member of the Air National Guard and later the United States Air Force, showcasing his commitment to service and duty. Beyond his professional life, Wayne was a man who deeply valued his personal relationships. He loved life, his family, and his friends, cherishing each moment spent in their company. Wayne found great joy working outdoors, where he felt most content. A beloved companion in his later years was his pug, he affectionately referred to as "his girl." The two shared many tranquil afternoons together, sitting in Wayne's recliner and watching Newsmax, a simple pleasure that brought him great happiness. Wayne’s family kept his spirit vibrant. Until recent years, he looked forward to his annual hunting trip to Alabama with his brother-in-law, Wayne Turner, and his sister, Lanelle Turner. These excursions were the highlight of his years, filled with laughter and the unbreakable bond of family. He always looked forward to family gatherings with all the kids and grandkids. Wayne leaves behind friends and loved ones who will forever carry the warmth of his spirit in their hearts. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Julia Watson; his brothers, Tony M. Thomas, and Bill Watson; and his sister, Rosaline Watson Adams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Priscilla Fay Watson; his children, Michael Wayne Watson, and Michele Leigh “Cher” Watson; his grandchildren, Michael Jeffery Watson, Lauryn Michelle Watson, Aaron Duke and wife Brooke-Aline, Nathan Duke, and Ashley Brevell and husband Josh; his great-grandchildren, Belle Duke, Madison Brevell, Wayne Duke, Noah Brevell, Chloe Duke,and Liam Watson; his sisters, Lanell Turner and husband Wayne, Brenda Leonard, and Edna Godeaux; and numerous other loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
