Kermit Richard, 85, of Orange, Texas, passed away on January 27, 1940, at Bonne Vie Hospice in Port Arthur, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2026, at St, Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Father Antony Palous. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery
Visitation will begin prior to the service at 9:00 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with a rosary to start at 10:00 a.m.
Born in Cecilia, Louisiana, on June 30, 1940, he was the son of Sidney and Hilda Richard. Kermit lived a life dedicated to his family, his faith, and his community. He was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Orange and went on to proudly served in the United National Guard. Following his time there, Kermit began career as an electrician at Alpha Portland. He he moved on to work with TxDOT, from which he later retired. His commitment to his job was matched only by his devotion to coaching local baseball, softball, and football, where he shared his love for sports with many young athletes. They fondly remember him as a coach who inspired them to do their best. An active member of St. Mary Catholic Church for over 60 years, Kermit’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He especially was proud of his membership in the Knights of Columbus. His family was very important to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Kermit will be remembered for his kind heart, commitment to community and family, and his lasting impact on those around him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Richard; siblings, Bobby, Betty, Jackie, Joseph, Cheryl; and his parents, Sidney and Hilda Richard.
He is survived by his sister, Charline Andrepont; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
