Roland Allen Guillot was born on December 24, 1942, in Orange, Texas and he passed away on January 10, 2026. He lived most of his life in Orange, Texas, except for time in the States of Maryland and California.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Orange with Reverend T.J. Gabelman officiating. Interment will follow at Trout Creek Cemetery in Call Junction, Texas.
Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Roland was a 1961 Graduate of West Orange High School where he was elected a Class President and participated in Sports and Drama. Basketball was his favorite sport, which was considered his best talent. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Orange, Texas.
The employment history of Roland to earn a living for his Family consisted of three different types of occupations. He worked as an electrical/instrument technician, an industrial relations representative and an insurance/investment sales representative.
For over thirty years, he worked in the electrical/instrument construction and maintenance industry. Starting in the IBEW Local Union 390 apprentice electrical program, he worked on many residential, commercial and industrial projects to qualify as a Journeyman Electrician/Instrument Technician. He worked on many projects for the oil, chemical and gas industries on the Gulf Coast, plus he traveled to many commercial and industrial projects throughout the United States. Additional duties included engineering liaison, technical layout, start-up commissioning, safety committees, and general supervision. To enhance his electronic knowledge, he attended night school and completed all electronic courses offered at Orange Lamar College. The Instrument Society of America (ISA) recognized Roland as Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) at the highest level.
Roland enjoyed the many different projects in different locations and the diversity of work, different people, personalities and cultures, and touring the various countryside scenery in the United States.
After attending night school for several years, he graduated from Beaumont Lamar College of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in business and accepted an opportunity with a large electrical manufacturer.
For over seven years, he held responsibilities as a Compensation Analyst and Industrial Relations Supervisor in factories with large populations. He worked in the Baltimore, Maryland Aerospace Division which built military weapons and radar equipment, and he also worked at the Sunnyvale, California Steam Turbine Division which built turbines for ships and powerhouses. During his employment, he was required to travel nationwide to other facilities for special assignments.
For over twelve years, Roland sold insurance and investment products in the Gulf Coast Region and qualified for several domestic and foreign sales conferences. After completion of formal insurance/investment schools, The National Life Underwriter's Council recognized him as a Fellow (LUTCF) in the insurance/investment business.
As a member of the Orange County Democratic Party, he worked on several election campaigns as a committeeman and served as a Precinct Chairman and served as a Delegate to Local and State political conventions. Orange County District Judge David Dunn appointed Roland to serve as Orange County Grand Jury Commissioner.
Roland was an IBEW member for over fifty years and was active in IBEW Local Union 479 in Beaumont, Texas, serving as Political Action Director, Delegate to the Sabine Area Central Labor Council and Delegate to many AFL-CIO Regional and State political conventions. He retired as the Elected President of IBEW Local Union 479 in Beaumont, Texas.
As a member of the Orange Lions Club, Roland participated in the Annual Lions Club Carnival and other events to raise funds for charities. He served as Program Director for special presentations at monthly meetings and was recognized with the Orange Lions Club President's Award for Outstanding Programs.
Some of his enjoyments and past times were entertaining his family with water sports on Toledo Bend Lake, playing league basketball on the Gulf Coast and in the Baltimore, Maryland area, touring the U.S. countryside scenery, being a fan of Boxing and UFC sports and enjoying a few cold beers with friends at the local pub. In Baltimore, Roland was the President of a major Industrial Basketball League with over several hundred players which he managed financial budgets, game and gym schedules, award presentations and Basketball Officials assignments.
Roland and his wife Grace successfully completed their "Bucket List" by vacationing throughout the U.S. to visit many tourist sites and locations, toured Hawaii and Alaska, and enjoyed several cruises and a tour of Italy in Europe.
Roland is preceded in death by Grace Marie (Hall) Guillot, a very devoted, loyal, and loving wife for over 45 years and the loving, wonderful and caring Mother of their blended family of five children.
He is also preceded by his parents, Curt and Dorothy (Busby) Guillot of Orange, Texas his older sister Virginia (Guillot) Miller of Dallas, Texas a younger brother Don Carrol Guillot of Olympia, Washington, an infant Granddaughter, Ella Makai Guillot, of Meadow Vista, California and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Guillot of El Dorado Hills, California.
Surviving children are Stephen Guillot of Denver, Colorado, Kelly Guillot of Shingle Springs, California, Rachael (Edwards) Behrman and husband Russ of Goshen, Indiana, Joe Bob Edwards and wife Bonny of Houston, Texas and Curt Guillot and wife Marlo of Meadow Vista, California.
Roland is also survived by 11 much-loved grandchildren, and numerous other family relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Roland’s memory to Texas Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), supporting infants and children in need throughout the Sabine Neches Region:
