Jimmy Granger, Sr., 81, of Orange, Texas, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Orange.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Ross Hilton. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on July 3, 1944, he was the son of Irvie Granger and Loy Wilder Granger. A proud veteran, Jimmy served honorably in the United States Army as part of the 101st Airborne, where he exemplified the values of courage and commitment that would remain with him throughout his life. After his military service, he embarked on a rewarding career as a pipefitter for Local 195, where he earned respect from his colleagues for his work ethic and dedication. Jimmy had a passion for music and played guitar in a gospel band known as The Texas Gospel Band. His love for music was closely intertwined with his faith; he was a devout Christian and unfailingly shared his love for the Lord through his musical talents. Family was at the heart of Jimmy's existence. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, willing to do anything for them, always putting their needs first. His unwavering support and love for his family created bonds that will endure across generations. Jimmy also had a special fondness for his beloved dog, Lobo, who provided him with companionship and joy. In addition to his devotion to family, Jimmy found immense pleasure in spending time outdoors, particularly fishing and enjoying the tranquility of the lake in his boat with his wife before her passing. He cherished these moments by the water, finding peace and happiness in nature and companionship. Diehard fans of The Texans, Jimmy and his family enjoyed sharing in the excitement of the games, further illustrating his love for family gatherings and shared experiences. Jimmy's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and a profound love for family. He would give you the shirt off his back, embodying a spirit of selflessness that will be remembered fondly by those he left behind. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who are comforted by the love he shared so generously throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Tina Marie Granger; and his brothers, Willie Granger, Don Granger; and his sister, Pauline Gentry.
He is survived by his children, Jimmy Granger, Jr. and wife, Regina Coats and husband, Gator Granger, and Maranda Marie Martin and husband, Malcolm; his grandchildren, Brock Cormier, Brooke Cormier, Alexis Granger, Roger Granger, Michelle Martin, Gabriel Granger, and Nevaeh Bean; his great-grandchildren, Chadlynn Cormier, Ashtynn Cormier, Ethan Cormier, and Ellie Cormier; his sisters, Alice Jean Hymes, Darlene Granger, and Lillian Lombardo; his brother, Jackie Granger; and numerous other loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brock Cormier, Gator Granger, Roger Granger, Hayden Curry, Malcolm Martin, and Larry Cormier. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Cormier.
