Born in Kilgore, Texas on September 18,1938, she was the daughter of Hubert and Alma Buchanan. Beverly was raised in Beaumont and attended Beaumont High School. On March 7, 1958, she married the love of her life and they made their home in Beaumont. Beverly’s smile and sweet disposition drew people to her. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends and hanging out with her family. In her early adult years, she volunteered at Baptist Hospital and later took a job as a minister assistant at First Baptist Church of Beaumont. There she worked with several ministers before taking a job at the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce.
Upon her retirement, she enjoyed attending various events for her grandchildren and would spend several weeks at their home in Creede, Colorado each year. Once she became a grandmother the family referred to her as Mimi. Mimi’s greatest joy was found in baking each family member their favorite birthday cake with strawberry and carrot being the cakes of choice.

If you went into her home, chances are the stereo would be playing some of Elvis’ greatest hits or some of her gospel favorites. She loved music and sang in the First Baptist Church choir for many years. She participated in the Beaumont Passion Play, the Singing Christmas Tree and many other musical events. Beverly loved Christmas. Her house was always decorated with trees of ornaments and wreaths of lights as well as the many manger scenes she had displayed throughout her home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Buchanan, and Alma Buchanan; and her brother Douglas Buchanan
