Dale Gordon Hutson, 90, passed away on February 22nd, 2026, in his apartment at Spring Cypress Senior Living in Cypress, TX surrounded by loved ones after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Gordon was born in 1935 to Thomas Preston Hutson and Thelma Hutson. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School and went to Stephen F. Austin University, where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture and minor in Chemistry. His passion for chemistry took him to Southeast Texas where he worked in the lab at Gulf Chemicals and later Chevron for about 40 years. Gordon resided in Bridge City for close to 60 years.
He had a tremendous passion for photography and gardening. His garden consisted of camellias, azaleas, and roses, along with many different types of plants and trees. His photography hobby took him and his sons to national parks across the western U.S. as he loved the incredible landscape.
He is survived by his loving son, Bryan, two daughters-in-law, Julie and Linde, 5 grandchildren, as well as his younger brother, Leon, sister-in-law, Anita, and 3 nephews and nieces, not to mention his BFF, Laura. Gordon was preceded in his death by his oldest son, Preston. Preston was a devoted son who also shared his love for photography and travel.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, TX at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will begin prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Gordon’s independent spirit and sense of freedom never left him no matter where he went. His laughter, smile, wit, loyalty and intelligence will be missed by all those who knew him.
