Lavon Jones

Lavon ?Punky? Jones, 57, of Bridge City, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2007, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Reverend Jeff Bell of Cove Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Ms. Jones was born October 23, 1949, in Bullard, TX to George Junior Jones and Mildred Ruth Hall Jones.
Ms. Jones was a twelve year resident of Bridge City where she attended Cove Baptist Church.
She was a 1968 graduate of Lutcher Stark High School and graduated from Lamar University with a degree in Dietary Science. She had previously worked at Jones Nursing Home in Orange, State of Louisiana
Angola Prison System and at the store in Bridge City where she managed food services.
She loved her family and friends, she cared for her grandson, Kevin, the special joy in her life. She will be missed by those who knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Junior Jones and her sister, Geneva White.
She is survived by her mother, Mildred Jones; daughter Lawanda Sorrels and husband James both of Bridge City; grandchildren, Kevin Sorrels and Patti Sorrels; brothers, Rodney Jones and wife Linda and Jimmy Jones and wife Barbara, all of Austin.
Serving as pallbearers will be the deacons and members of Cove Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nephew, Chad White and grandson, Kevin Sorrels.
