With hearts heavy yet comforted by faith, we announce the passing of Andrus “JR” Credeur, Jr., age 80, of Bridge City, Texas, on October 29, 2025. He passed away peacefully at his home on the bayou, surrounded by the love of his family and caregivers.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by services at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, with burial and military honors at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.
Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on July 19, 1945, Andrus was the son of Andrus Credeur, Sr. and Mathilde (Meche) Trahan. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in Vietnam during the Vietnam War as part of the Military Police- a duty he fulfilled with the same honor, courage, and strong conviction that marked his life thereafter. A master industrial carpenter, and talented artist by trade and a perfectionist by nature, JR approached every task with pride and precision. A man of unwavering integrity, he believed in doing things the right way or not at all. His word and a handshake were as binding as any contract. JR was as protective as he was proud- a man who spoke French and deeply embodied his Cajun heritage. To know him was to respect him; to love him was to be loved fiercely in return. He lived a simple, meaningful life next door to his sisters and found joy in the closeness of family. JR was especially known for the unbreakable bond he shared with his daughter, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. They were his pride and joy, and he considered himself rich beyond measure, for his life was filled with what mattered most- faith, family, and love. A devoted member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City, Andrus was a faithful and active presence within his parish community. JR’s legacy lives on in the love he poured into his family, in the laughter that filled the room when he spoke with that familiar twinkle in his eye, and in the steady presence that made everyone around him feel safe and deeply loved. His legacy endures in the hearts of those he cherished most.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mathilde and Ceasar Trahan; his father, Andrus Credeur, Sr.; and his siblings, Wilbert “Butch” Melancon, Michelle Melancon Bourque, Belle Melancon Smith, Vernon Credeur, and Anthony Trahan.
He is survived by his devoted wife of over 55 years, Margaret Credeur; his daughter, Andrea Credeur Tupper and spouse, Bobby; his grandchildren, Colton Zane Credeur, Baylee Shae Tupper, Harlee Brae Krneta and spouse, Matt, Slayton Noah Tupper, and Great Granddaughter Sawyer Reign Sullivan; his brother, Donald James Credeur; his sister, Lynn Nell Guidry and spouse, Dudley; and numerous other loving nieces, nephews, god-children, family members, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Donald James Credeur, Bobby Tupper Jr., Slayton Tupper, Dudley Guidry, Blain Dugas, Bryan Credeur, Branden Credeur, & Anthony Trahan. Honorary pallbearer will be Colton Zane Credeur.
