Marlene Cenith Ballast

September 27, 1946 — October 21, 2025

Orange, Texas

Marlene Ballast, 79, of Orange Texas passed away on October 21, 2025, at family’s home.

Born in Sulphur, Louisiana on September 27, 1946, she was the daughter of Ralph and Vera (Clement) McCord. Marlene retired from Invista as a Safety Coordinator.

Family was very important to her. She was very active in little league activities when her sons were young, volunteering and always at the events. When her grandchildren came along, they referred to her as “Toots”, she made as many of their games as she could. Crawfish boils, barbecues, and holidays when family gathered were her greatest joys in her later years. Toots’ running buddy at the end was her Chihuahua Yaz, they were inseparable.

A special thanks needs to be given to Tim and Kathy McCord, especially Kathy, for taking care of her these last few years, helping her with daily activities, showering her with love, and always being there for her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vera McCord and her brother Ronald McCord.

She is survived by her sons Corbin Ballast and wife Patti, Leaf (Sam) and wife Crystal. Grandchildren Brittany Ballast, Travis Ballast, Brooke Cowger and husband Cody, LJ Ballast and wife Sophia, and Amelia Ballast. Great grandchildren Everett and Callaway Cowger. Brothers Tim and wife Kathy McCord, and Traylor McCord. Special friends Sandra and Ron Reeves.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
