Woodrow Shelton Brown

Woodrow “Shelton” Brown, 90, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 2, 2026, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Jay Thomas. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Lonoke, Arkansas, on October 31, 1935, he was the son of Woodrow Wilson Brown and Grace (Johnson) Brown. He dedicated twenty years of service in the United States Armed Forces, exemplifying his commitment to his country. Shelton was a talented painter at DuPont and a courier at Lamar. He was known for his fun loving personality, always able to make those around him laugh. Shelton was beloved by his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Paw Paw." He had a great love for the Lord, as well as music, frequently singing along to old country tunes and hymns. In his free time, Shelton enjoyed fishing and traveling across the country with his cherished wife, Helen. He also took great pride in his yard, finding happiness in nurturing the beauty around him. Shelton will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor, and the love he shared with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Grace Brown; stepmother, Bessie Brown; sister, Mary Carmichael, Gladys Williams, and Pat LeBouef.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Helen Brown; sons, Charles S. Brown, James E. Brown and wife Desiree, Michael E. Brown and wife Angie, Thomas P. Brown and wife Kelly, and Robert W. Brown and wife Janet; daughters, Loritta A. Dawes and husband Robert, and Kathleen G. McClure; 23 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Lil McCue and husband John, and Nell Mueller; brother, Frank Brown and wife Pat; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Brown, James Brown, Michael Brown, Thomas Brown, Robert Brown, and Robert Dawes. Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Mozingo, Jr.
