William Lloyd Droddy
Bill Droddy left this world on January 19, 2015. Bill was 76 years old. He was the son of Addis and Artie Droddy. He was born in Orange, Texas on October 1, 1938.
From a very young age Bill instinctively knew how an engine should run and showed off his skill through many drag races out on the back roads of Southeast Texas. In 1963, Bill and his family moved to Houston where he took a job for A. J. Foyt in the service department. He became one of Mr. Foyt's go-to men when an engine needed a little tune up. He was invited to go, and did go to, at least one of A. J.'s Indianapolis 500 races. He loved fast cars. He could assess a car's problems without much hesitation.
He is survived by his son, Roger Lloyd Droddy and partner, Judy Harvey, of Cypress, Texas; his daughter, Kerri Lynn Droddy of Vidor; his brother, Joe Droddy and wife, Jonell of Vidor; and his longtime companion, Nelda Scott of Lumberton, TX. His nieces and nephews will always remember their Uncle Bill.
He lived, he loved, he sought after knowledge, he trusted others, he was loyal; he rose to the top of his profession. He was a good man. He has a host of life-long friends that speaks volumes of a man's character. He loved life, but most of all he loved his children, Kerri and Roger.
Friends are invited to join the family at a memorial service which will be held at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 24, 2015. A visitation will be held on Saturday from noon until the time of the service.

To the family of Mr. Bill Droddy. When I think of Bill I also think of Joe they always were together when they came to events for the Miller family. His smile when you saw him and his genital tender heart. Loved hearing the stories he and Bill told during reunions. I will miss him even if we did not see each other that often. My god give you peace and comfront during this time. I am so sorry I will not be there to say my goodbyes to a great man.

To our friend Bill: There is a current TV reality show called "Survivor." We all know these tests of one's time on earth are not based on this TV show's ratings. If I were choosing a team member for "real life," Bill would be chosen as one of my members. Bill was a soft spoken man, but one you could count on when life went wrong. I'll always be thankful to Bill, for relaying through Nelda, during hurricanes Rita and Ike that our home was still standing. He had taken the time to drive by and assess the damage of this home. He then sent a message that the coast was safe and we could return back to BC. Upon mine and Ryan's return after both storms, there was Bill and Nelda waiting. Bill helped us to get the door opened to our home, checked out the safety of the electricity, then began working on our tractor so it could assist with removing all of the downed trees. Bill worked days on various engines to help us out on the recuperation of these hurricanes. Nelda hauled loads of clothes home for us to wash at her home. Thanks Bill for being our "pit mechanic." You are a keeper on my "Survivor" voting list. We'll miss our cookouts, jeep rides on the beach, and numerous laughter's shared around the dinner table. Thanks my friend for being a part of our lives. We'll miss you. Love, Leah and Ryan Johansson

Bill Droddy, I met Bill about 35 years ago. I knew right away you were special. I named a son after bill and my dad. Bill was like a father, brother and best friend all rolled up into one to me. I was lucky to be able to spend countless hours with Bill at work, the race shop and at a lot of race tracks over the years. Bill chased my dream with me and any success i had at the race track was a direct result of Bill Droddy. What a great man. ill never forget you and all the things we accomplished together. you are gone but we will never forget you. { Joe, Kerri and Roger sorry for our loss } .
