Viola Marie Barker

Viola Marie Barker, 89, of Orange, passed away on December 1, 2020, at her home.

Funeral services will be private and under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Manning, Texas, on May 21, 1931, she was the daughter of Owen Frank Pelton, Sr. and Viola Samantha (Cameron) Pelton. Viola was a faithful member of Pinehurst United Pentecostal Church for a number of years. She was employed as a nurse for the majority of her life where she took great pride in being able to help and care for others. Viola enjoyed reading and was an extremely talented baker. Her family will always remember her for her homemade sweets, loving nature, and warm smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Viola Samantha Pelton; husband, Harold Dean Barker; son, Larry Conrad Thompson; and brothers, Owen Frank Pelton, Jr., and James Cameron Pelton.

She is survived by her children; Karen Jeanne Thompson, Robert Dean Barker and wife Rebecca; daughter-in-law, Lillian Thompson; grandchildren, James Conrad Honey, Tiffany Nicole Doss, Elyssa Michelle Barker, Grayce Amberlee Barker, Treasa Thompson, Sharon Thompson, David Thompson, Christopher Thompson, and Laura Thompson; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Dot Gilliland and husband William; and sisters-in-law, Doris Pelton and Elsie Pelton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Wilson, James Honey, David Abshire, Chase Parker, Chase Campbell, and Donald Parker.
