Verna Delores Skipper
Verna Delores Skipper, 82, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on January 29, 2017, in Orange, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Bell.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., at Shiloh Cemetery in Kipling, Louisiana. Officiating will be Reverend Rod Martin, of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on October 8, 1934, Verna was the daughter of Milton and Zemma Reid. She worked at Gulf starting when she was 18 and later retired as an executive secretary. She enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds. Verna will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Skipper.
She is survived by her son, Gary Lee Skipper, of Kipling, Louisiana.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dwayne Cooley, Craig Cooley, Douglas Robare, and Steve Simmons. Honorary pallbearer is Robert “B.J.” Skipper.

I am so sorry for your loss - I just found out this week that Delores had passed away. We go back a long time - I graduated from Port Neches High School and she graduated from TJ in 1953 - we played softball against each other for our respective churches. We then worked together at Gulf Oil/Chevron--retiring in 1992. She was a very dear friend and I loved her very much. Lillie Belle Humphrey Duhon
