Born in Orange, Texas, on May 17, 1962, he was the son of Elton Sims and Leona (Lewis) Sims. Troy worked as a painter for the Painters Local Union for a number of years. He had a kind soul and was happy go lucky all the time. Troy would do anything to make you smile, even if it made him look silly. Troy enjoyed motorcycles, hyrdrosliding, going to the lake, fishing with his friend Marty Taylor, and working on things. He loved his Trans Am and dancing. Troy was a big softy through and through with the ability to turn anyone’s bad day into a good one, and a smile that would light up a room. His well lived life touched the hearts of all those he loved and will leave a lasting impact for generations to come.

I lived down the road from troy and had bought some property with an old house on it. Didn't know whether i wanted to tear it down or fix it up for a rent house. It had a big oak tree that needed to be cut down leaning over it so Troy was going to pull it with my tractor while i cut. We tied it up I cut while he pulled and almost had it over when it got to be to much for the tractor and fell right threw the middle of the house. We laughed about it and said Well i guess i know now what I'm going to do with the house. He was a good person, friend, we had a lot of good times. I will miss him. Larry Harper.
