A Life Remembered

Obituary

Tara Leigh Strahan, born on May 12, 1982, in Orange, Texas, brought immense light and warmth into the world before her passing on May 9, 2026, in Austin, Texas.

Memorial gathering will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Visitation will begin prior to the service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

A dedicated social worker, Tara was known for her profoundly empathetic and caring spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own. Though affectionately known for always being a little late, she was consistently present in the hearts of those she loved. Tara was a proud Cajun, whose vibrant spirit shone through her love of dancing and her deep connections with friends. A glass of red wine in hand, she was a truly social soul who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.

Tara was a strong advocate for women's rights, embodying courage and conviction. She held deep love for her parents, Ronnie and Debra Strahan, and missed them dearly. Her passions included cooking, decorating for every occasion, and traveling, especially to New Orleans with friends and being on the water. An avid animal lover, her fur babies, Shrimp, Oyster, and Peanut, were a constant source of joy. Friends often described her as "Sunshine," a testament to the radiant happiness and kindness she brought into their lives.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ronnie and Debra Strahan; her aunts, Pat Russell, Vickie Russell Coburn, Becky Russell, and Katherine Russell; and her grandparents, Lester Strahan and wife Marie, and John Russell and wife Dorothy.

Tara is survived by her loving partner, Jose Angel Lucio; her cousins, John Barras and wife Gina of Austin; Craig Barras of Vidor; Jeremy Russell of Orange; her cherished fur babies, Shrimp, Oyster, and Peanut; and many devoted friends (The Shack) and family members who will miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your favorite Mental Health Awareness organization.

The services for Tara Leigh Strahan will be live-streamed for the ones who are unable to make it. The livestream can be found under her obituary on. https://www.claybarfuneralhome.com/

Sadly i found out too late to attend. Tara was a beautiful soul. I served with her when she worked for American Red Cross. One day i will see her again... Picture is of her at lunch in Kirbyville during a deployment for a flood recovery event.
