Steve Hill Pannell, 82, of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 2, 2024, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Lynn Fontenot. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will begin prior to the service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, on January 3, 1942, he was the son of Joe Pannell and Willie Mae (Berry) Pannell. Throughout his life, Steve was known for his commitment to his work and his deep love for his family. Steve dedicated many years of his life to Temple Inland, where he worked tirelessly and never missed a day of work. His strong work ethic and determination were truly admirable, making him a role model to many in the community. Despite his busy schedule, Steve always made time for his family and friends, finding joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Outside of work, Steve had a passion for gardening and spent countless hours tending to his yard, grapevine, and flowers. To his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was affectionately known as "Paw Paw," a title that brought him immense pride and joy. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his memory will live on through the love he shared with those around him. May we find comfort in the memories we shared with Steve and carry forward the values of hard work, dedication, and love that he exemplified throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Willie Pannell; sister, JoAnn Kite; and granddaughter, Kylie Pannell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Cathy Pannell; daughters, Lisa Floyd and husband Tate, and Misty Berlin and husband Wesley; son, Richard Hill Pannell and wife Patty; grandchildren, Chris Daniels and wife Katrina, Brance Floyd and wife Kirstyn, Weston Floyd and wife Alexis, Kyrick Pannell and wife Belkeyta, Garrett Berlin and wife Ryanne, Austin Berlin and wife Kaitlyn, and Rachel Berlin; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; nephews, Donald Kite and Tim Kite; as well as numerus other loving family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Daniels, Brance Floyd, Weston Floyd, Kyrick Pannell, Garrett Berlin, and Austin Berlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jody Bailey, Troy Waddell, Clyde Temple, and CA Dorman.
