Stephen Patrick Padgett (Wallace) passed away on March 13, 2019 at UTMB-Galveston, Texas.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange at 12:00pm on Monday, March 18, 2019. A memorial service will begin at 2:00pm followed by a procession to Forest Lawn Cemetery where Stephen's remains will be laid to rest at the feet of his beloved, Mama & Papa Burns.
Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Stephen was born on November 13, 1968 in Port Arthur, Texas. He lived in Orange from the time of his birth until he graduated from Little Cypress Mauriceville in 1987 where he was recognized and awarded academically as well as for his musical talents in band and choir. He moved shortly after graduation and began his adventures in life... living and working in many places that included areas in and around Houston, Austin, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
Stephen lived his life to the fullest... loving and entertaining everyone in his path. He never met a stranger and had the incredible gift of making every person he spoke to feel that they were the most important person in the room... because to him... at that very moment... they were. His infectious smile, personality, wittiness and beautiful blue eyes will forever be imprinted on the hearts of all who love him.
He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his fur-babies, Nimrod, SugarFoot, Mimzy, Pawstin, Mercy, Felix, Princesa, Grumps & Fresca.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Dale Wallace as well as his maternal grandparents, A.F., Jr & Margie Burns and paternal grandparents, Buck & Fannye Wallace.
He is survived by his Husband, Marcos Olmeda of Galveston; his Mother, Janie (Wallace) Melton of Orange; his Sister, Joey Dale Dronett of Orange and her children, his nieces and nephew, Shelby Dale, Seth, Saylor and Claire. Those also left to cherish his memory are numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews of the Olmeda family. He is also survived by his biological father, Jerry Padgett.
The family requests in lieu of flowers/plants that donations be made to Claybar Funeral Home in Orange to assist with Stephen's funeral arrangements.

The dates that mark our lives from beginning to end is separated by a dash. The dash represents all the time that we spend alive on earth. Stephen, your dash was way to short. But in that short time you touched the lives of so many with your love, your humor, the song in your heart, joy, laughter and yes, sometimes, pain. To me the greatest gift you gave me besides loving my brother, is the gift of hope. You gave me hope in what seemed to be a hopeless time in my life. That beacon of hope surrounded me in my wilderness and it was a light in a time of darkness. But mostly, my friend, I was so blessed that God connected us somewhere in our dash. And even in this time of profound sadness for the loss of your physical presence, that hope still remains in me. I love you to heaven and back and until we see each other again, I will carry that hope with me always.

I can not seem to get it together, emotionally. I promise I will and I’ll make you proud on Monday. This won’t be easy. We were 3 months shy of 27 years together. I will NEVER love as hard as I love you. Thank you for loving me and my family. Thank you for coming to be my family, with such an amazing family. Thank you for being my friend, my partner, my mentor, my teacher, but mostly, thank you for your hand in marriage. A kid like me, was not destined for the amazing life I’ve had with you. I know a few years got rough, but I’d relive those years in a heartbeat if it meant the history WE had. You were my Lotto Love! Te Amo con todo Mi corazón, Mi Vida. As always, more than words...
