A Life Remembered
Obituary
Ruby Alexander, 46, of Orange, was called to heaven on Thursday, January 23, 2014.
She had a burning flame that was indistinguishable for love, fun, and friendship. Ruby was born in Mississippi on June 10, 1967. Like her name, she was like a precious stone that stood out to all for her beauty inside and out, and it was hard not to notice her. This was evident to her parents when they adopted her at the age of four.
She leaves behind the greatest accomplishments of her entire life, her daughters, Courtney (Smith) Cowart and husband Dan, and Hannah Smith, who will always cherish the precious memories of childhood with their Momma.
She is also survived by her father, Jim Alexander and wife Rhonda, brother Troy Alexander, wife Heather, and their children, Hayden, Harper, and Hendrix. She was greeted in heaven by her mother, Shirley (Hodgkinson) Alexander, whom she missed dearly. We will celebrate and embark on memories of Ruby 3:00 p.m. January 31, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

I would like to express my sincere condolences at this time to your family and friends. In times of difficulties people turn to the Bible because it contains very comforting passages. It also contains a very comforting hope for the future that I would like to share. In Revelation 21:4 it states, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry be anymore the former things have past away." It is comforting to know that one day we will live in peace and that death will no longer exist. May Jehovah God bring you strength, peace, and comfort during this difficult time.

I am sorry for your lose death is not a natural
thing that's why we are so upset when we
lose a loved one to death. The bible talks
about a time when death will be no more at
Revelation 21:4. I would be more than happy
to more fully explain this hope to you and
other bible truths you can reach me at

The first time I met Ruby we were in fourth grade. Even then she was unforgettably beautiful and full of life. In the ninth-grade we became best friends and shared many days and nights of laughter and fun. After high school our lives went in different directions. Several times through the years we crossed paths again, and it was like a day had never gone by without seeing each other. She was there for me if I needed anything, as I was there for her. Ruby has always been my soul sister and I loved her very much. When she passed from this world she took piece of my heart with her. I will always miss Ruby. To Courtney and Hannah I wish you happiness and love. I know you will cherish all of your memories with your mother and be comforted by the knowledge that she is in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Goodbye my sweet friend. I am happy that you have found peace and serenity at last. Until we meet again...I love you!

My sympathy to Ruby's dear family and friends and I hope that they will find comfort in knowing that Jehovah God longs to bring back to life those who are in his memory, and to see them live on earth again. And His Son Jesus will fulfill this wonderful promise. Just think of the happiness you will experience when you see your loved one again, and the smile on her face when she gives you a hug. Acts 24:15; Luke 8:49-56; Psalms 37:11,29 and 83:18

Ruby and I were best friends in high school "Little Cypress" and remained friends for all these years. There were many ups and downs for both of us but one thing we both knew was that we had each other. I just found out this morning of Rubys passing. Ruby was full of life and could always make you laugh. I know we both had more then our fair share when we were together. I will miss Ruby more then words can say. Courtney and Hanna I'm sure you both know how much your mom loved you and I am so sorry for her passing. She is smiling down on you with her mom now. DeAnn Bass Whitman

Ruby was my sister in law at one time. We were pregnant at the same time ,and used the same Dr. One visit one of us gained 15 lbs, and the other lost 5! When we got back and told everybody,,,,they all looked at me and said," Pam, you gained 15." Ruby busted out laughing,,sorta like Courtney does, and said," No,I did" We had a lot of fun times. She loved her girls! I am so glad I was able to talk to her thru Facebook these last few months. She will be missed! Pam
