There was a time when me and Ronnie went to Toledo Bend to go fishing. He came by our Dad's real early and picked me up, the sun had just peeked barely bathing the horizon in cool, soft sunlight. The air was damp from the dew and the life around us had just started to stir as we went off towards the lake. The entire trip, we talked and laughed. He told me stories about growing up and about our Dad, things that I had never been privy to before. It was the first time we ever got to spend any real time together and bond. Sadly, I did not see him much growing up. Later on at the lake it got hot, very hot. There were sparse white fluffy clouds that did absolutely nothing to block the searing sun. And I sure did get burned. But the sky was a special kind of blue, the lake was clear as crystal, and everything seemed right in the world.
