Robert "Uncle Bud" Doucet

1953 ∼ 2023

Robert “Uncle Bud” Doucet
Robert “Uncle Bud” Doucet, 70, of Orange, Texas, passed away on November 29, 2023, at home.

Visitation will be from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City with a procession to Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery for a graveside service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Father Ernie Carpio of St. Henry Catholic Church.

Born in Winnshire, Texas, on April 28, 1953, he was the son of Gaston Doucet and Marie (Thibodeaux) Doucet. Robert worked as a fabricator and welder for many years. He was a longtime member of St. Henry Catholic Church. Robert enjoyed being outside fishing or crabbing. He loved to cook and entertain for his family whenever he could and often loved to dance especially to cajun music. Robert like to refer himself as a doctor since he fixed his chicken’s leg with a q-tip and would also let you know that he had a PhD… a post hole digger. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and even once tried out for the team in the 80’s. Robert had a wonderful and joyful soul and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gaston and Marie Doucet; and brother, Jerry “Steve” Doucet.

He is survived by his son, Travis Doucet and wife Becca, and their children, Grady, Delino, and Bree; daughter, Tracie Stephens and husband Matt and their son, Jacob; brother, LJ Doucet and wife Pat; sister-in-law, Mary Doucet; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving friends and family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lance Doucet, Loren Doucet, Laine Doucet, Colby Doucet, Tell Brown, and Tyne Brown.

Bud Doucet is truly one of the absolute most caring wonderful people I have have met. When I was a 19 year old college student, he took my roommate and I in for an entire summer and let us stay in their home. We were selling books in the area and he welcomed us in after we lost our housing. We would come home to a delicious, Cajun dinner, we helped me with car troubles multiple times, and just took great care of us. He really had decided not to just let us stay with them but to take care of two young girls, as if they were his own. He provided a sense of safety and security in a pivotal time when we really needed it. My heart goes out to his wonderful family that he leaves behind. In my mind, heaven is getting an angel back that had been walking amongst us for the past 70 years. Rest easy, dear man.

We just had the pleasure of meeting Bud on Monday, Nov 27th when he & Gwen invited us to go to Natchitoches, LA with them. We really enjoyed the day eating at a seafood restaurant & shopping at a 160 year-old Mercantile store with Bud & Gwen. We would like to extend our sincere condolescences to his family & friends. May Bud Rest in Peace. Jerry & Kathy Mercer

Uncle Bud! Just an all around nice guy. Always a smile when you saw him and of course he had a song in his heart he shared with us (The Cajun Cousin's) when the guys saw him they always called on him to come sing. You'll be missed my friend! God's blessings of peace and comfort be with you all! Benny and Brenda Mueller
