Rex Holder Steele, Sr., 87, of Orange, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Born in Waynesboro, Tennessee, on October 31, 1933, he was the son of Loyd Steele and Lena (Holder) Steele. Rex proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 13 years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Jacqueline Marie Steele; parents, Loyd and Lena Steele; siblings, Ralph Steele, Marion Gamble, and Forrest Steele.
He is survived by his children, Rex H. Steele, Jr. and wife Bennie, of New Braunfels, Marion Jean Raymer and late husband Clifford, of West Orange; grandchildren, Chris Raymer and wife Delmi, Jeff Raymer and wife Hayley, and Rachel Townsend and husband Matthew; great-grandchildren, Tobyn Townsend, Noah Townsend, Owen Raymer, and Ella Raymer; and his sister, Deanna Tipton.
Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.

May he Rest in Peace his family is in our prayers and in our hearts. I had a chance to spend time with Rex Jr. during our time of loss . Rex Jr. Is such a tremendous person so kind and thoughtful during our time of loss I wish I could been there for him during this time . I believe a person's children reflect the character of their parents . I am Rex 's sisters son Anthony W. Turberville. My mother's side of the family her brothers ,sisters nieces and nephews are such tremendous people . During this unusual time in history with this Pandemic my mother and I couldn't make it however we are with you in our hearts and in spirit .May God Bless and peace be with you all .
