Opal “Aileen” Gandy
Aileen Gandy, 83, of Orange, Texas, passed away on November 13, 2022, in Orange.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2022, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Damon Bickham, of First Baptist Church in Deweyville, Texas. A private family graveside will be held following the service.

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on January 7, 1939, she was the daughter of Lewis Choate and Ruby (Jones) Choate. Aileen was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Deweyville. She enjoyed spending time with her church friends and her family. Aileen loved enjoying the sunshine while she tended to her garden and flower beds. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Ruby Choate; and her husband of over 60 years, Richard Gandy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Rick Gandy and wife D’Juana, of Houston, and Tammy Bullock and husband George, of Orange; grandchildren, Richard Gandy and wife Samantha, Devin Gandy, and Kellen Gandy and wife Kim; great-grandchildren, Gibson Gandy and Evelyn Gandy; Beverly Casey, who was like a sister to her; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

I feel so lucky to have met this lovely lady back in 1975 when she was an apartment manager. She was warm and welcoming and always offered this teenager something good to eat. She was a delight to hang around. I sure will miss her. So sorry to Tammy and Rick. What a loss. : (
