Molley Abshier

1956 ∼ 2020

Molley Abshier, 64, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 16, 2020, in Port Arthur, Texas.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on February 28, 1956, she was the daughter of John Dixon and Agnes (Hoffpauir) Dixon. Molley was an excellent seamstress who loved to sew, embroider, and was locally famous for her handmade Christmas stockings. She enjoyed cooking new things for her friends and family, but her spaghetti could always guarantee that everyone would be at her table to enjoy it. Molley was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend- but most of all the best “Grammy” to her grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and they will always treasure the memories they have of her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Dixon.

Molley is survived by her high school sweetheart, her loving husband of 45 years, Larry Abshier; children, Ginny Davis and husband Jimbo, of Little Cypress, Cody Abshier and Heather Hall, of Burkeville, and Casey Abshier and wife Heather, of Bridge City; grandchildren, Kyndall Davis, Rhys Davis, Kowlen Killingsworth, and Paxton Abshier, and her siblings, John Dixon, Jr. and wife Pam and Jane Lampman and husband Ed; along with numerous other loving family and friends.

Mrs. Abshier’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Sandy and Lynn for their continued friendship through the years.

Private family services will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Molley was a kind and loving person. She helped me overcome many struggles in elementary school and remained a close friend throughout school. We shared a birthday. She always reminded me that she was two hours older than me. My prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Molley was the most precious, sweet , loving person that I had the privilege to call my cousin. She and I were very close although we lived miles apart our whole lives. When we did get together, it was as if we never missed a beat. As young brides, we stood in each other’s weddings and shared many of life’s milestones. My life was so much better because of Molley. She taught me about suffering with dignity and to always find happiness in life’s precious moments. She was so proud of her husband, children and grandchildren. They were her world. Her talent as a seamstress was awesome. I will treasure her gifts always. Molley, you’ve certainly earned your Angel Wings Sweetheart. May you Rest In Peace and may God shed His Perpetual Light Upon You. I will miss you until we meet again. Love, Carolyn

I met Molley in the spring of 1980. My husband Mark was childhood friends with her husband Larry. She an I hit it off right away. I spent countless hours over the decades sitting next to Molleys sewing machine watching her create masterpieces! Baby blankets, bumberpads, and decor! Not to mention the hundreds of Christmas stockings! We raised our children together. In the 90s Molley went through a life threatening health crisis that ended when she had a successful kidney and pancreas transplant. I was with her as much as possible at that time. She was very kind and no matter what she was going through she did every thing she could to help a friend in need! I am blessed to have had such an awesome life long friend. I love you Molley, and I love your family! Stacie Meyer
