A Life Remembered
Obituary
Michael Alvin Freeman, 59, a devoted father, grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully at his Orange, TX residence on October 27, 2026, after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was born on July 18, 1967, in Orange, Texas.
Michael was a dedicated and hardworking man who took immense pride in everything he did, consistently giving 112%. In the later years of his career, he was a valued employee of West Orange-Cove ISD, retiring in the summer of 2026. His coworkers deeply appreciated him, and their prayers, support, and generosity meant a great deal to Michael and his family.
He cherished his children, grandchildren, and beloved fur babies, especially his Yorkie, Nurse Gemma, who was a constant companion. Michael was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros and found joy in classic rock music. His love for Dr Pepper, particularly Dr Pepper Zero, was well-known. He enjoyed working on vehicles, exploring jeep trails, and simply being surrounded by the things and people he loved. Michael had many treasured memories working on vehicles with his late father, whom he later worked with at Signal Shipyard. He found great comfort in his faith, knowing he would be reunited with his loved ones who passed before him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charity Freeman; his parents, Alvin and Ruby Freeman; his grandparents; and his sister, Stacy Lynn Freeman.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his children, Kristian Freeman, Jenny Freeman Garza, Angela Freeman, Cody Freeman, Patsy Freeman, Brittany Johnson, and Nicholas Freeman-Martin; and his grandchildren, Da’vonte, Da’trell, Aalyiah, Kali, Khloe, Rilya, Nevaeh, K'ya, Krista, Lucca, and Ezra. He also leaves behind his siblings, Deborah Freeman, Leatha Gomez, Jon Freeman, Jennifer Arevelo and her husband Adrian, William Freeman and his wife Christina, Alvin Freeman II, and Taylor Freeman and his wife Monica.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leatha Gomez, Jon Freeman, Jennifer Arevelo, William Freeman, Alvin Freeman II, and Taylor Freeman.
