Mervin E. Bingham
Mervin E. Bingham, 89, of Vinton, Louisiana, passed away on May 23, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Barry Bradley, of First Baptist Church in Orange. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on July 20, 1927, Mervin was the son of Leon and Lillie Mae Bingham. He worked as production foreman at DuPont Sabine River Works for 36 years, as well as serving on the Grand Jury for many years. He attended the Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas and volunteered as a Merchant Marine for United States Military. Mervin was a member of the West Orange School Board and enjoyed spending his time, playing fast pitch softball, refereeing, hunting, fishing, and gardening. His passion for worldly travel with his wife, and getting to share the stories of those travels with his family and friends, was what he enjoyed the most. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death his parents; his loving wife, Charlsie “Skeeter” Bingham; and his brothers, Leon and Leroy Bingham.
Mervin is survived by his sons, Lin M. Bingham and wife Vicki, of Call, TX and Paul D. Bingham and wife Stephanie, of Vinton, LA; grandchildren, Jessica (Pike) Pickett, Derek (Meghan) Bingham, Jacob Bingham, and James D. Bingham; and his great-grandson, Elijah Bingham.
