I remember Mary Jane for her fun loving laughter. We would all laugh till our sides hurt because of her humor. I was a year behind her in high school, but because I hung around with my big brother Mike , I was blessed to know her. We all loved your wife, mother and grand mother so much. I always wanted to be like her; kind, fun loving, generous. I will miss her and always think of her fondly. Sherry Gravett Harris

We grew up friends. We were born months apart. We went to different schools but that didn't matter to us! According to my memory, which sure could be not quite right: Mary Jane was one of the youngest of 6 children of Ed and Jane White in Orange, Texas where we grew up. She lived in a wonderful 2 story white house on a corner with a great yard. I seem to remember that her Grandmother lived in an apartment in their garage. Two story houses were unique in the Orange, Texas of my day. It was more Victorian. The newer homes were all ranches. Like ours. So stairs and attics were magical places for me. Mary Jane and her sisters occupied the attic of the home that was open, not divided into bedrooms. It was huge! I remember playing for hours with Mary Jane, Susie and Patricia, her sisters. We played dolls and games and dress up. I loved it there. Their mom had the most delightful laugh. I think Mary Jane had her mom's laugh. One summer in the late 1960's, we were working at Wray and White and my Dad, Hal Wray, asked Mary Jane and I to do a large project for him. The auto supply had many catalogs and price sheets that were changed often. They had catalogs and sheets for cars for several decades back. Dad wanted us to organize them by year and car type and label the shelves they were put on. (Remember this was long before there were any computers so they were all hard copy!) We worked and worked all summer on this project. Finally we were so proud to show my Dad our work. So Dad came back to the room where we had put everything on shelves. He was impressed! So were we! Then Dad said, "Let's try this out and see how it works". He asked me to find a parts catalog for some unknown ancient car from 2 or 3 decades ago! I was stunned. I told him we had not kept any catalogs that far back because the cars were too old! Dad looked at me with a face I will never forget. He said, "We are the only auto parts store that has parts for all those old cars! Where are the catalogs!!!?" I told him we had thrown them all away in the Dempster (I called it Dempsy) Dumpster out in back of the store. He said, "Go get them!" So I climbed into that hot dumpster in 100 degree temperatures in Texas and Mary Jane stood outside and as I threw out the pages she caught them and put them in a box. Needless to say, we learned a very hard, hot lesson that day! One person's junk is another person's treasure!! . At SFA, I learned that Mary Jane loved cheeseburgers with catsup! She ate one everyday! We learned from our friend Carol from Brownsville how to make homemade tortillas. Since there were no kitchens in our dorm ( and microwaves were not invented yet!) we learned how to cook them with our iron! She had a wonderful laugh and her eyes lit up when she talked. She called me Patsy. Everyone did back then. I can still hear her voice saying my name. She was and especially now is my sunshine friend.

I adored Mary Jane when I was growing up! She was the sweetest thing and so beautiful! She and I played as hard as we could at family gatherings at Aunt Pat's house, running wild all over that big house! I also have great memories of the fun we had at Moss Lake with all of her family! God bless Mary Jane and all of my sweet cousins!

Mary Jane was the sweetest, most beautiful little girl! I haven't seen her in so many years, but I can still see her smile and hear her wonderful laugh. Named for two of our dearest angels and an angel herself from the start... God bless you, precious cousin, and welcome you home.
