Mary Frances Dorman Vassar, 69, of Vinton, Louisiana, passed away on October 6, 2018, in Sulphur, Louisiana.
Born in Orange, Texas, on June 12, 1949, she was the daughter of Hershel D. Dorman and Lois Green Dorman.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Vassar.
She is survived by her children, Richard Vassar, Jr. and wife Shawn, of Vinton, LA, Teena McElveen and husband Mark, of Moss Bluff, LA, and Kristi Tyree and husband Tom, of Carlyss, LA; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.

Mary was a dear friend to me. I will never forget her and all the special fun times we had. I got to visit with her not long ago and I'm so thankful for that. I thank God for putting her in my life.

Met Mary and Richard Vassar in Mountain Veiw Ak in 2006. We were using our RV for the 1st time and had not pulled our car with it yet. Were sitting on the porch of the office and got to talking about supper. You dont usually ask someone if you can ride along with them when you have just met them, but Doug did. They then ask us if we would like to go to the Reo Grand with them that winter Triple Creek in Woodville, TX was the meeting place. A new freindship started. They came and camped at our house and we camped at theirs. Enjoyed an experience of Mardi Gras and a Chon de lait with their relatives. Trips to Florida and back to Mount Veiw where it started. They are missed already.
