Marilyn Lomie Cotton, 86, of Orangefield, passed away on May 31, 2014, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Bobby Granger of West Orange Christian Church. The eulogy will be given by Will “Sarge” Cotton and Mark Scales. Burial will follow at Mary Williams Cemetery in Orangefield.
Visitation will be from 4:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born on October 29, 1927, at the Terry Section House near the Oilla Community in Orangefield, she was the daughter of W.L. “Pop” Chandler and Agnes Mary (Williams) Chandler. Marilyn was a homemaker who treasured her family and home.
She was a charter member of West Orange Christian Church where she taught the primary Sunday school class for over 45 years, was the chief church van driver, and served as church secretary-treasurer emeritus.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Chandler and Gerald Chandler; her brother-in-law, Claude Wilson; son-in-law, Chuck Tipton; and niece, Kathy Wilson Nuckols.
She is survived by her husband, Bennie L. Cotton of Orangefield; her son, Will “Sarge” Cotton and his wife Jacky of Mauriceville; her daughters, Marianne Payne and husband Glen of Vidor, and Suzie Tipton of Clovis, NM.; her sisters, June Wilson of Beaumont, and Cherry Scales and husband Royce of Orangefield; her sisters-in-law, Gloria Chandler and Betty Chandler, both of Orangefield; her grandchildren, Christy Swanson and husband Mike of Mauriceville, Kimberly Wood and husband Shannon of Cheyenne, WY., Andrew Tipton of Clovis, NM., and Savannah Tipton of Orangefield; and her great grandchildren, Brett Swanson, Gabrianna Wood, and Genevieve Wood.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Scales, Adam Scales, Randy Wilson, Gerald Chandler, Dylan Howard, and Cody Howard. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Chandler, Gary Scales, and Tim Hinson.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.

I Remember Every Church Service She Would Come to my House in Bridge City Just So I would be able to attend Church. She and Her Son Took me in when My Mother was in a coma in Galveston Texas For lil over a Month!! She Will Forever be in My Heart With Priceless Memories of The Times We Shared!!!
