Messages of Love

From family and friends

Stacey Carey & Amber Trahan December 8, 2015
MawMaw is what we called her. MawMaw loved her grand-babies and always loved watching and keeping us even if it meant breaking out the paddle from the kitchen drawer. Not sure she ever used that paddle on anyone, but would tap it on the kitchen counter to get our attention. We could always count on MawMaw to make sure at every family gathering our favorite foods were included in the meal. Especially anything with cheese so one little grandson would clean his plate. Going to visit MawMaw there was sure to be something cooking, her bible out, working a crossword puzzle and maybe even a little Talk Radio, People’s Court or the NFL channel on. She was always proud to show off her latest pictures from a VCB trip to anyone that came to visit. As the family continued to grow bigger MawMaw and PawPaw decided to build a great room onto their house. We all know that PawPaw did all the hard work while MawMaw did all the decorating. She picked turf green carpet that had to be inspired from her love for Football. Sunday's were a special day with MawMaw. It was a given that she would first be in church accompanied by a car full of grandkids or even a pew full of family. When her beloved Cowboys were playing at noon on Sunday’s it was a mad dash out the door and if you visited for long you might just miss your ride. MawMaw loved her Dallas Cowboy’s and even had a Cowboy Room. The room was filled with pictures from Tom Landry, Roger Staubach, Jimmy Johnson, Troy Aikman and even Wade Phillips because she was friends with his sister. When MawMaw's Cowboys made a good play, she would jump up yelling, clapping and pumping her fist. Even before we were old enough to know football we knew something exciting had happened, and you could not help but run in the room letting her tell you. She was just as devoted to Orangefield, in fact we all know she has gone to sporting events wearing her Bobcat Orange, even though some Of us played for the other team. As we got older, Most of our memories are playing games at the table with football on the TV. She would teach us board games and cards that she would learn on her many trips with the church or VCB. I think she enjoyed bringing these games and teaching them to all the family, even if it was just so she could make her own rules. It seemed very often when we gathered and played these same games over and over there were “NEW” rules. We would all have to sit and go over the rules before we started playing to make sure we all understood the “MawMaw Rules”. She never let us WIN, so it sure did feel good when you could beat her at her own game with her own rules. MawMaw could be described as witty & fun, direct & sure, loving & kind. She was strong in her faith. MawMaw was devoted to reading her bible and being an example that surely without a doubt set the foundation for each our own faith. Both MawMaw and Papaw are shining examples of true lasting love, devoted to each other in every way. As a Christian we know she is happy and well, but losing her leaves a void. She is very special to each and every one of her grandchildren and will forever be our MawMaw.
