Levy Joseph Barrios, Jr., 94, of Orange, went to be with Lord on September 28, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 3, at St. Francis of Assisi in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Sinclair Oubre. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, with a vigil starting at 6:00 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on September 9, 1926, he was the son of Levy J. Barrios, Sr. and Elmira Sophia (Gonzales) Barrios. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked at Levingston Shipbuilding for 44 years and became the President of the company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was on the executive board of the Camp Fire Girl’s and the Boy Scouts where he was awarded the Silver Beaver award. He never met a stranger and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Joe left an impact on many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dean Phillips Barrios; sister, Elaine Duchamp; and son-in-law, Jerry Schlabs.
He is surived by his children, James “Jim” Barrios and wife Carol of Tyler, Gail Schlabs of Orange, Claire Cooper and husband Stanley of Orange, Michael Barrios and wife Kathy of Orange, Cathy Taylor and husband Doug of Richards; grandchildren, Beth Smith, Lindsey Pautsky, Jonathan Schlabs, Brian Schlabs, Rachel Smith, Jennifer Cooper, Philip Cooper, Zachary Taylor, and Hannah Taylor; great grandchildren, Sam, Anna, and Jeannie Smith, Emily Pautsky, Mackenzie and Willow Schlabs, Baily Alfaro, and Ava Montondon.
Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Philip Cooper, Jonathan Schlabs, Brian Schlabs, and Charles J. Duchamp, III. Honorary pallbearers are Charles J. Duchamp, Jr., Jim Barrios, and Michael Barrios.

Granddad you will be missed! I wish Emily could have met you and Grandmother! Sorry I won’t be at the funeral, but I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures and even going through my old pictures. I will never forget the beach trips and hope to make it a tradition for Emily to remember.
