LaMerle Curl, 82, of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 31, 2016, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Gary P. Wheeler of First United Pentecostal Church in Orange. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on February 2, 1934, LaMerle was the daughter of John Curl, Sr. and Lacy Irene (LeDoux) Ray. She loved crocheting and gardening, especially raising roses, and she was an extreme animal lover, caring for stray animals throughout her life. She also loved her girls dearly.
LaMerle was preceded in death by her father, John Curl, Sr.; mother, Lacy Irene Ray; brother, John Curl, Jr.; and sister, Virginia Andreassen Willis.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Athena Windham of Mauriceville; granddaughters, Tonya Nicole Strickland and Crystal Athena Yeates; and great-grandsons, Tilman Strickland and Daniel Yeates.

She is a very beautiful graceful lady. She brought us girls to town with her to find Gloria a bathing suit. She found this beautiful white bikini and begged Gloria to pick that one. Looked beautiful on her. Gloria was bound and determined not to get it. Not sure if she ended up getting it or not. Anyway that made her the coolest mom ever.
