Kevin Grant Carpenter was born on July 7, 1976, in Orange, Texas. A 1994 graduate of West Orange-Stark High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lamar University. He began his career in the Big Four with Arthur Andersen, LLP, spent twenty dedicated years with Jason's Deli, and most recently brought his leadership and work ethic to T&T Group.
Above all his accomplishments, Kevin's proudest role was being a father. He shared three children- Ben, Will, and Maddie with Christy Aven. To them, he wasn't just a dad; he was their anchor, their sounding board, and their greatest champion. Even as they grew into adults, they were still his babies. He never missed an opportunity to ask how their day went or remind them how deeply they were loved. Whether they were watching movies at home or sitting in a theater, Kevin would swear up and down he didn't want any popcorn, only to eat half the bucket before the movie even started. He gave them unconditional warmth, steady guidance, and constant laughter.
Kevin shared a special bond with his siblings, Suzie, Jenny and Jason. They spent a lifetime ribbing each other, joking around, and keeping one another on their toes, but whenever anyone needed a hand, Kevin was there. He might have been running late, but he always showed up.
Kevin found his true counterpart in life when he married his wife, Brandy Johanson, expanding his heart to embrace his stepdaughters, Mia and Madison. To Brandy, Kevin was the finest man, husband, and father she had ever known, her best friend, her adventure tour guide, her steady light, and the absolute love of her life. Kevin lived with crystal-clear priorities: his relationship with God and the people he loved. He was the kind of guy who would carefully wash and reuse plastic forks to save a dollar yet wouldn't blink an eye at dropping a hundred bucks just to sit across a table and catch up with someone he cared about. His days were built on morning coffee, a little whiskey and peanut butter at night, hard work, good dogs, and great music. But what truly sustained him was his family.
A lifelong learner with an endless drive to grow, Kevin had insatiable curiosity. He listened to countless podcasts and was always eager to pass along the knowledge and habits that made him successful so the people around him could thrive, too. He applied that same fierce discipline to his health, famously sticking to an ironclad diet of grilled chicken and vegetables for years. Outside, he was in his element working in the yard, hiking, and sitting around a campfire. He also held a legendary affinity for Bigfoot. His daughter Maddie made a tradition of hiding miniature Bigfoot figures around the house for him to discover, a habit his children and siblings enthusiastically fueled at every chance. Kevin is the kind of person you never forget; he will always be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering love for his family.
Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Brandy Johanson; his children, Ben Carpenter, Will Carpenter and his wife Haley Hernandez, and Maddie Carpenter; his stepdaughters, Mia and Madison Johanson; his siblings, Suzie Erickson and husband Scott, Jenny Frisbee and husband Shane, and Jason Carpenter and wife Mistie; and his nieces and nephews, Trent, Hunter, Maysie, Jaxen, Weston, Brandon, Emma, and Savannah. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Shirley Carpenter; and his grandparents, Paul and Eula Carpenter, and Harold and Eugenie Callahan.
