Obituary
Karen Messer Meaux, 69, of Bridge City, passed away on June 9, 2020, in Bridge City.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Father Ernie Carpio. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2020, with a Cursillo rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on October 5, 1950, she was the daughter of Shannon Messer and Thelma (Plummer) Messer. Karen was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. Karen was a diligent worker, starting her career at the Chamber of Commerce and then as Office Manager for Dr. Mark Messer for at least 30 years. Karen was a talented cook and enjoyed traveling, and spending time on the beaches in Florida. She adored being surrounded by her family and was an amazing Mimi to her grandchildren. Karen’s light touched everyone she came into contact with and will leave behind her beloved family with fond memories of her unforgettable life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shannon and Thelma Messer; and niece, Shan Zirlott.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ellic J. Meaux; children, Tracy Meaux-Hargrave and husband Brad of Bridge City, and Shannon J. Meaux and fiancée Ileana of Port Arthur; grandchildren, Jacob Hargrave, Jordan Hargrave, Jillian Hargrave, Janaé Hargrave, Justyn Hargrave, Zoe Meaux, Ethan Meaux, and Courtney Meaux; siblings, Sharon Boling of Bridge City, Dr. Mark Messer and wife Becky of Bridge City, Thelma Deloach and husband Doug of Orange, Judy Schrumpf and husband Jackson of Sulphur, Louisiana, and Becky Picard and husband Paul of Orange; along with special friends, Scharlette & Don White of Bridge City.
Serving as pallbearers will be Marlon Messer, Jeremy Messer, Austin Williams, Travis Williams, Jimmy Picard, and Wesley Self.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or Tunnel to Towers at www.tunnel2towers.org .
