Joshua Moreaux, 22, of Beaumont, passed away on May 16, 2015, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church, 10169 Hwy. 69, Port Arthur, Texas 77640. Officiating will be Pastor M.L. Phillips, pastor of Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Vidor. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont.

Joshua was born on April 5, 1993, in Beaumont, Texas to Otis Joseph Moreaux and Cheryl Ann Morris Moreaux. He was the sixth child of nine. At an early age, he was the designated family mediator. In 2004, he was baptized and received the Holy Ghost. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 2011. He immediately sacrificed his will and plans for a college education to help with the family business. In the name of family, he relieved his mother by learning the various aspects of the business that included: dispatching, invoicing, banking and payroll often times without compensation. Selfless...always willing to help in anyway...loved his family till the end.
He was a faithful, active member of Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Vidor. He was in attendance for every service. He participated in any skits or programs. He served in any capacity as his pastor requested. He was a church drummer, sang in the choir and later taught himself to play the bass. He was even a member of the “Moreaux Quartet” as the bass singer. He loved family times of four wheeling, back-yard barbecues, skiing, road trips and late night jam sessions. He fostered many relationships over the years. He always met and made a friend - never met a stranger and had a smile that would light up any room. He was mild mannered and his spirit connected with others without even a word being said. He was faithful, loyal and truly a man after God's own heart.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence Moreaux, Sr. and Lorna Pete Moreaux.
He is survived by his parents, Cheryl and Otis Moreaux, Sr. of Orange; siblings, Ella Moreaux-Bourgeois and husband, Quentin of Baytown, Otis R. Moreaux of Beaumont, Lawrence Moreaux IV and wife, Shunte of Houston, Otis Joseph Moreaux, Jr. and wife, Maelishia of Houston, Daniel Moreaux and wife, Macy of Beaumont, Rachel Moreaux of Orange, Rebekah Moreaux of Orange, and Joel Moreaux of Orange; grandparents, Joseph Dudley Morris, Sr. of Beaumont and Elizabeth Harmon Citizen of Beaumont and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lawrence Moreaux IV, Otis R. Moreaux, Otis Joseph Moreaux, Jr., Daniel Moreaux, Joel Moreaux, Jaylon Moreaux and Christian Hockless. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Hardy, Archie Holleman, Caleb Callahan, Miles Hammer, Joseph Gibson, Josiah Phares, Richard Moreaux, Joseph Dudley Morris, Jr., Dana A. Baker, Jr., and Joseph Dudley Morris III.

We’re all too heartbroken to be able to find words to express our grief. There is such joy in knowing that Bro. Josh has WON the race! But sorrow for us who have to carry on the rest of the race without him. It seems everyone remembers that he was never without a huge smile. He was the only baby I ever knew who had to be carried out of church for laughing so loud!! Bro. Josh’s faith was deep and strong -- he would be the very first to tell us that the Lord can and will take a tragedy like this and make something good come out of it.

Josh was the BEST of the best in every way. Always, from birth, a lovely personality. Always picking up the slack. Always helpful. Always respectful. Always saying a kind word, doing an act of kindness. Always humble. He was a magnet that knew not his force. Just last mid-week church service on our way to the sanctuary I was trying to explain a position I had taken on a particular problem I felt I was facing, feeling awkward...as always, with his bright, beautiful smile and a slight shake of the head, he looked at me and said, "Naw, Sis, don't worry about that, Sis. It's all good...You're cool. (nodding his head) I think your cool, Sis." We laughed. I walked away in unbelief that he, a young person, thought of me, a gray-haired, fat, almost middle-aged woman, cool...and we went into the sanctuary to have church. He always did and said what he meant. I'll never forget the morning a new soul prayed through at church and how he shouted and praised God. It was something I felt honored to witness, for sure. And I rejoiced at knowing that this young man was so exuberant.in his worship over this. What a friend he was, what a brother he was. There is a big void in the lives of those at FTPC now, in so many many ways, that will never be filled as he filled it. So blessed to be a part of Josh's life and so very, very happy that he was a part of mine and my daughter's. See you later, man. Save a place at the Throne for me. I know you're already on the front row seat. :)

Words cannot express how hurt and devastated we are by the loss of Josh. This young man had such a beautiful smile and a very loving personality. We here in the Logistics Department at Lanxess Corporation send our heartfelt condolences. But I personally want to let them know that I love each of them. My personal family connection to them through OJ makes it even more personal for me. I pray that God will strengthen each of you and give you a peace of mind in knowing that God needed his Smiling Angel back.... for his misson was complete.

A few years ago, I was privileged to be around this family almost daily. I was a helper in the elementary class that Rachel & Rebekah were in. I have very fond memories of these children...young adults now. I always loved to see Daniel & Josh in the hall going to their classroom. They always had a ready smile and a pleasant greeting. I so sorry for your loss and all of you are in my prayers.

our deepest love and sympathies to the moreaux family and friends of joshua's. he will be a part of many hearts with his outgoing friendliness and great sense of humor. to raise children in an atmosphere of introspection and charity takes determination and purpose with goals in mind. having raised our kids with your kids we reaped the benefits of children that care about others and also live their lives with self confidence. we are sad to say goodbye to josh but glad he lived his life enjoying his loving family and friends with confidence. love always from kenneth, thea, juanita, and peter leblanc.

There are no words to be said that can really offer comfort during this horrible time. But thankfully there is the Hope of seeing Joshua again in Heaven. Just knowing he beat us all to the goal we are living for is a comfort. We are praying for the Moreauxs during this tragedy that God will ease your sadness and give you peace and joy. I still can't believe this has happened. It just seems like a bad dream, and any moment now I'll wake up and it will all be over. I was always impressed by Josh's smiling face and beautiful attitude. I've known him since he was born, and I have NEVER heard him speak harshly to anyone. EVER. He was always willing to prefer others over himself. Even when I accidentally almost tore the door off his Hummer, he just laughed and kept smiling. Although there were 13 years between us, he was like a little brother to me. I would often joke with him and tell him "I don't like your sour attitude, you need to smile more". We shared a common bond through music, and here lately, we had that musician's telepathy going on. You'd have to be a musician to understand, When you're both on the same wave length, and you both do the same run in a song without planning it. We shared many knowing smiles playing in church. Most of all I was impressed by Josh's worship and walk with God, his faithfulness, and his submission to God and the ministry. This is the secret behind his attitude and happiness. There will forever be a hole in our lives, and the room just got a little darker without his radiant smile, but he simply outran us in his race, and he is now among that great cloud of witnesses, sitting in Heaven's grandstands, cheering us on! We are quickly approaching the finish line! Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. The Moreaux family has meant so much to us through the years. We are standing (and kneeling) with them during this time.

There is no way to express the sorrow that Jan and I feel for the family of Joshua. We have known the Moreaux's for many years and shared lots of good times together. My grandsons and grandaughter lived next door to the family for several years and are like brothers and sister to the Moreaux children. There are no words in the English language that can bring comfort at a time like this. No other human can know exactly the deep feeling of loss that is being felt by the you, the Moreaux family, at this time. I cannot express adequately anything that will bring comfort to any of you. I have lost loved one's and have come to believe that God has a purpose for taking those he wants to be with him. I pray that you all will come to a sense of peace in the days ahead knowing that Joshua served his purpose and God took him home. May he rest in peace and may God bless all of you. We love you, Doug and Jan Childress

I will always cherish the many things and events that Joshua was a part of at Faith Tabernacle. He was such a JOY to be around and his smile just had a way of pulling you into the circle of his life! He was a most humble, gracious young man to have sitting on our pews and the memory of his smile and spirit will FOREVER live in my heart! No words could ever express how greatly he will be missed! i love the Moreaux family and will always have each one in my thoughts and prayers! Love, Sis. Phillips
