Obituary

Josephine Marie Schulte Walter, 84, of Carrollton and formerly of Orange, passed away on Monday, June 29th, at home with her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 20th, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange at 10:00am. Officiating will be Father Sinclair. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm, on Sunday, July 19th at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with a Rosary beginning at 7:00pm.

For friends and caregivers in North Texas unable to attend the visitation and funeral mass in Orange, there will be a memorial mass and luncheon at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 11:00am on July 22nd, in Carrollton, TX.

Born in Moulton, TX, on March 19, 1942, Josie was the oldest daughter of Lawrence and Della (Krhovjak) Schulte. She was a nurse, a teacher, a gardener, and artist. She was active in the parish and developed lifelong friends. She fulfilled her dream and owned a business, The Victorian Dreamer and Cowboy, and was proud to be a docent for the Stark Museum in Orange. Her greatest joy, however, was always her family.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Esco Walter, her parents, and her sister, Diana, and is survived by her children, Dr. Laurie Walter PhD of The Colony, Robert Walter and wife Meg, of Calvert City, KY, Deborah Hanus and husband, Larry, of Carrollton, grandchildren, Joseph “Joey” Walter, William “Will” Hanus, and Annemarie Hanus, and siblings Clarence (Buddy) Schulte of San Marcos, Lawrence (Butch) Schulte of San Marcos, and Randy Schulte and wife, Shelly, nephews Randy Schulte, Jr. and son Tristin, Micky Schulte, Scott Schulte and children, Emely and Scott, Jr., and niece Candi Jean Lynd and children Khloe and Lily, all of San Marcos.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Walter, Will Hanus, Ken Hillsten, Carl Hertzog, Bernie Hanus, and Jim Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominican Monastery of the Infant Jesus, 1501 Lotus Lane, Lufkin, TX 75904, or to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7000 Morning Star Dr, The Colony, TX, 75056.
