Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on May 4, 1952, he was the son of Eulice Badeaux and Pearl (Harrington) Badeaux. John lost his father at a young age and took on the responsibility to provide for his family. He faced many obstacles early in life, but he always overcame. When opportunity presented itself, John attended Lamar University while also working to care for his loved ones. He graduated from college and went on to lead a life of service. John loved his community and worked as a sniper for the Orange and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Departments. He also worked as a physical trainer instructor and educational instructor for the Lamar Regional Police Academy. Some of John’s favorite memories of his work were helping to host the annual Cops for Kids and Blue Santa Toy events for the Orange County Sherriff’s Department. He always went above and beyond to help people in need and loved children. John volunteered for various charitable organizations throughout Southeast Texas and was very involved in the community. He was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a Grand Knight of Council 1680, a Faithful Navigator of Assembly 1105, and District Deputy of District 124. John was a family man, friend to all, and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. John will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eulice and Pearl Badeaux; the mother of his children, Barbara Jill Shelton Badeaux; his brother, Lucas Badeaux; and his sister, Viola Badeaux.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Judy Barton of Vidor; his children, John Leroy Badeaux, Jr. and wife Missy of Port Neches, Theresa Badeaux Easter and husband Mel of League City, Julie Badeaux Parrish and husband Heath of Groves, Tricia Badeaux and spouse Garrett Miles of Highland Ranch, Colorado, Chrissy Badeaux Daughtry and husband Jake of Nederland, Jonathan Coby Badeaux of Manhattan Beach, California, Kamie Badeaux Daffue and husband MJ of Kingwood; his grandchildren, Cayla Renae Cortez, Victoria LeeAnn Cortez, Ava Nicole Arnaud, Heath Randall Parrish, Jr., and Oliver Matthys Daffue; his brother, E.J. Badeaux; and his sister, Juanita Harrington Lynch.

I knew John when he was with JCSO and I was the Marshal at Bevil Oaks in 1983. John was hands down the nicest guy I knew and helpful when I needed it most. You came to mind today after 40 years and I thought I would look you up. I am sorry I didn't do it sooner. Rest in peace my friend.
