Jimmy Carley Umfrid, 75, of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 13, 2020, in Sulphur, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Brother Michael Orange of Deweyville United Pentecostal Church and Brother Bankard of North Orange United Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Born in Warren, Texas, on August 20, 1944, he was the son of Oran Howard Umfrid and Verna (Raymer) Umfrid. Jimmy worked as a pipe welder for Echo and Conex and was a member of Local 195 for many years. He was an extraordinary man with a kind heart who touched the lives of all those around him. Jimmy was a hard worker and a great provider for his family, who he loved dearly. He was a very loving man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to someone in need. Jimmy helped to feed those who were hungry and stood up as a father figure for many children who did not have a father. He enjoyed being outdoors and hunting. Jimmy also had a passion for cars and restored many vehicles over the years. His recent project was restoring a 1987 Camaro. Jimmy will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by parents, Oran and Verna Umfrid; his brothers, Buck Umfrid and Billy Umfrid; and his sisters, Henry Gay Burrell and Marie Umfrid.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Marceaux) Umfrid of Orange; his children, Scott Oran Umfrid and wife Holly of West Lake, Louisiana and Anthony Umfrid of Orange; his stepchildren, Stacy Myers and wife Sharon of Mont Belvieu, Stephanie Griffin of West Virginia, Chad Myers of Mont Belvieu, Corey Myers and wife Lori of Mauriceville, Lance Myers, Charles Marshall, Lela Marshall, and Tracy Allred; his siblings, Shirley Rice of Nederland and Charles Umfrid and wife Linda of Houston; along with his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and niece and nephews.

Social distancing and masks will be required at the visitation and funeral service.
