Homer Lee Ballard, 83, of Orange, passed away on February 20, 2021, in Beaumont.

Born in Winnsboro, Texas, on June 6, 1937, he was the son of Horace Ballard and Dathel (Rettman) Ballard. Homer proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He went on to work for Unocal as a dock operator and later retired after 31 years of hard work. Homer was a faithful member of Memorial Church of Christ in Nederland. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, being out in the boat with his family, traveling, and going on cruises. Homer loved getting on his Kubota ATV and drive it pretty much everywhere. He took pride in his vintage classic cars and occasionally took them out for a drive. He was a handy man that could fix just about everything around the house. Homer loved his family dearly and never missed a moment to spend time with them. He left an impact on many lives and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Dathel Ballard; and brothers, Frank Ballard, James Ballard, and David Ballard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Geraldine (Ortolon) Ballard; children, Norman Lee Ballard and wife Sonia of Orange, Bruce Allan Ballard and wife Natalie of Groves, and Tammy Lynn Carr and husband Charlie of Kountze; grandchildren, Crystal Sparkman and husband Brian, Brad Ballard and wife Emily, Cory Ballard and wife Brooke, Brandi Ballard, Orion Carr, and Stuart Carr; great grandchildren, Cade Vidrine, Nicholas Ballard, and Brody Allan Ballard; siblings, Kenneth Ballard, Marlin Ballard, Lou Carter and husband Billy, and Linda Delome and husband John; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Mrs. Ballard, I am so sorry for your loss. Have thought about you and Homer for years and often thought of taking up an offer to visit. My James and I traveled with you and Homer and other couples to California when Homer received his watch from Unocal. Really enjoyed visiting with you on that trip. My James died in November and was in poor health for the last four years. Again, my condolences to you and your family. Could tell from the picture tributes that you and Homer enjoyed a wonderful family life.
