Born in Orange, Texas, on April 17, 1935, he was the son of George Thomas Gunter and Maude (Allman) Gunter. Harold honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was proud to have earned the rank of Sergeant. Harold went on to work as an instrumental technician for A. Schulman Inc., DuPont, and later retired from Inland Orange. He was a jack of all trades who always kept himself busy with projects. Harold was a huge fan of the Texas Longhorns. He found joy traveling the world with his fiancé, Katy. Together, they visited all 50 states in America. Of all the places Harold had been, the lake was his favorite. He enjoyed being out on the water and was one heck of a fisherman. Harold was quite the character and he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. To know him was to respect him. Harold will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gunter; his parents, George and Maude Gunter; and his siblings, Margaret, Normandine, Larry, Gregg, Clifton, Charles, Carol Ann, Georgie, and Herbert.

For 47 years I have grown up while having Harold as a next door neighbor and very good friend at Toledo Bend . . We had some lively discussions with him being a Longhorn and me being an Aggie . . A wonderful husband, parent, and friend . . He will be sorely missed . . I'll only say this once for Harold . . Hook em horns . .

Enough cannot be said about this good man. So many a holiday and family gathering would always find Harold and I huddled up talking shop. How I will miss those times. Harold was the epitome of a true craftsman. The result of a long life lived well. Taking pride in the work of his own hands , with the desire of each project to be better than the last. Admired and respect by his peers. May Mercy and Grace through Christ Jesus be bestowed upon him without measure. And the peace of God which passeth all understanding be upon the hearts and minds of all who mourn his passing. John Hoffpauir

Sorry for your loss! Dad, Mom and I saw Harold at the doctor's office not too long after dad was diagnosed with MDS! We have not seen him in years! He was still so kind and gentle as I remembered him being from my childhood! May he rest in peace. Paula Wise (Henry). Also, Mom and dad send their condolences!
