Obituary
Gwen Gonzales, 78, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 23, 2018, in Orange.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be prior to the service, at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, on August 20, 1939. She was the daughter of Byron H. Sonnier and Geneva Minchew. Gwen was a lover of music, Cajun music in particular. She enjoyed playing dominos and cards, and working on word puzzles. Gwen was a very sweet soul, who had been described as a “mother to everyone.” She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Geneva and H.J. Herpstreith; and her children, Howard Gonzales and Baressa Gonzales.
She is survived by her loving husband, Marvin R. Gonzales; her children, Ruby Young, Marvin E. “Bubba” Gonzales and wife Nikki, Dena Barthol and husband David, Donald Gonzales and wife Cheryl, and Brandy Thompson and husband James; her 11 grandchildren; and her 18 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Higginbotham, James Thompson, Nick Gonzales, Mike Gonzales, Cade Watson, and Cody Herrington.
