Glenda Kinder, 63, of West Orange, passed away on January 23, 2015 at her home in West Orange.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Barry Bradley of First Baptist Church in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015 at Claybar funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas on October 4, 1951, she was the daughter of J.D. West and Aubrey Hext West. Glenda owned and operated Glenda’s Bake-A-Cake in Orange, Texas for over 35 years, and took great joy in participating in the birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries of so many in the community. Her shop was a source of great joy and friendship, and her staff were more like family than employees. Our family would like to thank them for all the love and support shown to us during this difficult time. You all know how loved you were, and we are honored that you loved her the same in return.
For over 15 years, Glenda participated in the Orange Lions Club Carnival, where she cooked hot dogs and danced to the oldies. She took great joy in giving back to the community she loved, and the good work of Lions Club International.
Glenda’s greatest legacy is the love and support she showed for so many. A natural caretaker, Glenda took great joy in cooking for those she loved, and she was as great a cook as she was a baker! Her family has lost the greatest cheerleader ever, because Glenda believed that you could achieve anything you set your mind to do, and never let her loved ones forget it. Her grandbabies will cherish her memory, and she will live on through each of them. They brought each other such joy!
Glenda’s family would like to express the deepest gratitude to Southeast Texas Hospice and Dr. Servet Satir for demonstrating the love and care of Jesus to Glenda and her family during this journey.
She is preceded in death by her father, J.D. West; husband, George Kinder, and son-in-law, Marty McDaniel.
She is survived by her companion, Charlie Stout of West Orange; mother, Aubrey West of Deweyville; daughters, Ramona McDaniel of New Braunfels, Texas, Kacey Prejean and husband, Wyatt of Little Cypress, Texas, and Lisa Carroll and husband, Scooter of Orangefield, Texas; grandchildren, Blake, Meagan, Hayden, Delaney, Zoe, Hope , and Conner and brother, John West of Deweyville, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be John D. West, Jr., Jason D. West, Travis Kitchens, Teddy Stout, Kent Jowell, Mark Kilchrist, and Clint Dryden. Honorary pallbearer is Danny Hoosier.

To GLenda' s family: I was so sad to hear about the passing of Glenda. She was always very nice to me. I understand your loss because I recently lost my husband suddenly. The pain is sometimes unbearable but try to cling to your faith and hold on to the precious memories. Glenda would want you to go on and be happy!
