Gladys Nell Lakey Choate, 80, of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 1, 2018, in Orange, Texas surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018, in Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Broaddus, Texas, on August 22, 1937, she was the daughter of Richard Troy Lakey and Ella Mae Kingsley. Gladys loved her family dearly, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and canning fruit jellies and loved to drink her coffee and watching & feeding her birds. Gladys will be dearly missed by all those who came to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elton Choate and Jimmy Broussard; parents, Richard and Ella Lakey; brother, James; sisters, Lois, Alma, Elizabeth, and Lora; and grandparents, Jim & Nancy Kingsley.
She is survived by her children, Patty Bonner and husband Terry of Dayton, Kim Evans of Baytown, Jana Cone of Sulphur, Louisiana, and Vickie Richard and husband Joseph of Orange; grandchildren, Sheree, Linda, Maria, Timothy, Amber, Jessica, Beth, Doyle, Lance, Eryn, and Nate; and great-grandchildren, Erik, Gabe, Samantha, Brieana, Lillian, Claire, Randy, Ryan, Brendan, Nickolas, Tyren, Taygen, Tracyn, Glenn, Paisley, and Presley.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nate Choate, Doyle Brady, Timothy Bonner, Gabe Reichert, Erik Reichert, Jonathan Flanigan, Gabe Choate and Lance Cone.
