Obituary

Gladys Brookins, 87, of Orange, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday, at the funeral home.

Born in Port Arthur on March 15, 1925, Gladys was the daughter of Nelson and Maynora Patin Higginbotham. She was a member of North Orange Baptist Church, the V.F.W., Disabled Veterans Auxiliary and the American Legion. She was a real estate broker for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.V. Brookins; daughter, Diana Lynn Brookins; and sister, Ruth Wilson.

Gladys is survived by her son, Clathon Brookins, Jr. of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter, Sharon Rodger of Runaway Bay, Texas; son, Kenneth Brookins of Orange; three grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
