Obituary
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon Melvin Payne. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited by Deacon David Bonneaux at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on July 25, 1930, she was the daughter of Claude Bergeron and Annette (Mendoza) Bergeron. Gertrude was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church as well as serving as a Eucharistic Minister there. She loved to cook and always had a big meal prepared for her family on Sundays. Gertrude always had a welcoming smile on her face and made sure that everyone she met felt like a part of her family. She loved her family deeply and will missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Annette Bergeron; her loving husband, Irving Paul Broussard; and her 6 brother and sisters.
Those left to cherish Gertrude’s memory include her children, Owen McPayne and Ella Bergeron, of Vidor, Ellen Fleming and husband Peter, of Orange, Susan Moody and husband Aaron, of Vinton, LA, Wendell Broussard, of Orange, Mark Broussard, of Orange, Norman Broussard and wife Lori, of Orange, and Marian Trammel and husband Douglas, of Bridge City; 21 grandchildren; along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Paul Moody, Abram Moody, Matthew McPayne, Jason Broussard, Daniel Trammel, and Paul Broussard.
