Gerald A. Morris, 76, of Bridge City, passed away on February 7, 2015 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Dale Lee of Cowboy Church of Orange County in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Bridge City.

Born in Sour Lake, Texas, on August 7, 1938, Gerald was the son of Ocie Morris and Bessie Morris. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves for 6 years and retired from Dupont Sabine River Works. Gerald was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bridge City since 1946 and served as a deacon for 41 years. He served on various committees at the church and was presently serving as a church trustee.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ocie and Bessie Morris. He is survived by his wife, Julia Morris of Bridge City; daughters and sons-in-law, Kellie and Kenneth Miller of Port Arthur and Audra and Erich Stafford of Brookfield, Connecticut; son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Sherry Morris of Bridge City; grandchildren, Kristin Ray and husband, Thomas, Chad Miller, Lauren Miller, Travis Morris, Jason Morris, Emma Stafford and Beau Stafford; sisters, Betty McDaniel and husband, Willie of Vidor and Frances Ervin of Bridge City and brother Ronald Gene Morris of Bridge City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 W. Roundbunch Road, Bridge City, Texas 77611.

Gerald was a living definition of a Christian man - devoted to His Lord, wife and family and church. He mentored many as to how a man should conduct himself. It was our privilege to have been in his life. We loved him. Go rest high, Gerald and worship your King. Boo and Lynn Richard
