George Loyd Duncan, Jr., 89, of Bridge City, Texas, went to his Heavenly home on January 29, 2018.
Born in Vinton, Louisiana on December 8, 1928, he was the son of George L. Duncan, Sr. and Kate Karney Duncan. George proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years, stationed in Virginia. He started working for DuPont Sabine River Works in 1947 and remained there until retirement in 1985. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Orange.
George enjoyed hunting and even trained his faithful dogs, Rocky and Lady, to go duck hunting with him. He loved to fish, especially at his camp on Toledo Bend. After his retirement, he and his wife Janet spent a lot of time traveling, having a great time in Scotland and seeing the fall foliage in New England. In recent years as his health began to decline, George enjoyed reminiscing about his hunting and fishing trips as well as his time at DuPont.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Kate Duncan; son, David Douglas; all 5 of his siblings, Robert “Red” Duncan, Jimmie Duncan, Margie Cagle, Doll Fox, and Velma Martin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 68 years, Janet Duncan; 12 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces; great-nephews; and his adopted Welch family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m., Friday, February 2, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Tim Dinger. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Groves.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
George’s family would like to express their thanks to his wonderful caregivers Judy Black, Natalia Hayden, and Wanda Johnson.

I am Edith Holden Kessler or Dee Dee , I grew up with this wonderful cousin in Vinton. His mom was a sister to my mom. What a wonderful lot of memories I have with the Duncan family. I treasure all these memories and will not be able to go to the services in Orange as I am 91 years old and don't do much traveling any more and my sister said she is having back problems and can not go. We are so sorry to miss seeing his family. Will keep you all in my prayers...
