Even though we lived in Bridge City since 1959, George and I did not meet until introduced through ham radio. I missed his early years. George, the Gentle Giant, was a very proud man, of his wonderful wife Betty, his children, and his church and God. The popular phrase "Behind every great man is a great woman" was very appropriate for George, and he frequently bragged about her. Away from radio, during trips to ham fests or helping others, we got to visit about things you don’t hear on the radio. He was ALWAYS positive, unless you got into politics. I learned about his early years of fishing, playing music in the church, CB and Ham days, tractors, towers, RV’s, traveling, railroads, and the stories go on…a wealth of information. Thanks for sharing your time. I miss you a bunch already George! 73’s W5GCA, AD5DD clear (until we meet again)

George was a very good friend and I will miss him on the airways. I enjoyed his RR stories. I will miss talking to him, but will get to see him again one day. Rest in Peace, George, K5GCA. 73s good friend. Randy Stracener, Gilmer, Texas W5RCD. May God be with and bless your family.
