I've been thinking about you a lot lately, times we went fishing, played golf or just had a catch with a baseball or football. It's still hard to believe you're gone, but I find solace in believing you are with our other past family members in Heaven. Rest in peace.

It's hard to believe you've been gone almost 6 years. There is a void in our hearts that will never be filled without you. Yet, we know you look down on us from Heaven, waiting as we do, for the day we are all together again. I miss you Buddy. Steven Scott

Specialist Gary Landon Scott, Sr. served bravely in Vietnam with Company C, 2nd Battalion Mechanized, 22nd Infantry, 25 Infantry Division. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in the Niche Wall on 12/22/2015 with military honors. His younger brother Ronald Scott, Jr., will serve as chaplain for the ceremony prior to interment, which will take place at the Old Fort Myers Post Chapel. Our Hero will be laid to rest in the most hallowed of all military burial grounds. What a fitting tribute to a man who was a 'true' patriot, a man loved by so many, and a man whose infectious smile made you laugh even when you disagreed with him. His children will take his ashes to the Vietnam Memorial Wall before his service, where in spirit, he will be joined with his fellow soldiers that did not make it back. I will share photos and the location of Gary's final resting place upon return from Arlington VA. To friends and family, please remember Gary in your prayers, asking almighty God for the repose of his soul. Steven Landon Scott

Today Dad would have been 70, and it was tough to think about that. However, on a much happier note, our Father's ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery on 12/22/15 as a fitting tribute to "Our Hero." I think that would have made him very happy, and the thought of that 'Gary' smile always picks me up. Happy Birthday Pop. Steven

I received a letter from the National Personal Records Center-National Archives delineating that in addition to the medals described prior, my Father was also authorized to receive the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation. I can't believe he's been gone almost 4 months now. To his friends and family, who read this, I'd consider it an honor if you'd take 10 seconds out of your day to remember that 'Gary' smile. Every time I do it makes me laugh, and I'm sure that's what he'd want us to do in his memory. Steven Landon Scott

My Father was a true American Hero. He never brought attention to himself and it was not until after his passing that his children have come to realize that he served with distinction in Vietnam. He was decorated with four Bronze Stars, The Combat Infantryman Badge, Two Overseas Service Bars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and as an expert with an M16. His passing has left a large hole in our family that can never be filled. We continue on with the solace of knowing that Gary Landon Scott Sr. served his family and his country with honor. Paw Paw Gary was a one of a kind. Not only was he a great father in law and Paw Paw but I considered him a personal friend of mine. He was definitely a mans man. I can remember looking forward to going to his house to visit. It was especially fun when him and Uncle Dennis were together, Gary was someone I could turn to for advice and I could be sure it was in complete confidence. I can remember building fences with him and I definitely was not the fence builder he was. I remember he would fuss at me for not doing it exactly the way he taught me. I would just laugh and he would shake his head. I am going to truly miss him, We love you Paw Paw. Love Kurt Clark & Family.

My uncle Gary was an amazing man with such a huge heart. He always acted like such a tough guy to all us kids but all in all a big teddy bear. He showed my family personally just how big his heart was. He took my family in when we had no place to go. He sheltered us, feed us and most of all made us welcome as if we were part of his family. I will always love you uncle Gary. You will stay in my heart forever. I will miss u dearly. I will look up every night and look for a bright sparkling star and know that is you watching over your family.

My Uncle Gary, truly one of a kind. You took in my family when we had nowhere to go. You gave us shelter, food, and love. I am 38 years old now and I remember like it was yesterday when I was just a little boy. My mother and siblings had nowhere to go and you took us into your home and welcomed us like your own children. For that I will always love you sir! Tim Telles
